Build on a reference. Make the character your own.
Use an original sketch or a permitted fictional reference to explore a new outfit, medium and visual personality. The result is a character image proposal, with your source image as its starting point.
Create an anime character4 credits for one standard image. New accounts receive 4 starter credits. See current pricing.

From your reference to a result.
Bring an original reference
Upload a sketch or permitted fictional portrait. Choose one subject and confirm your crop.
Define a few design choices
Select a medium, then describe the outfit, mood or distinctive accessory you want to explore.
Generate and compare
Review the cost and submit. Check which reference traits survived and whether the new details form a coherent design.
Save the main reference
After choosing a useful result, save a character in My characters with a name. Use that main reference for subsequent images within your character-space allowance.
What happened in this test.

This is one recorded result, not a guarantee for every reference.
Visible in the output
- The fictional blonde adult reference became a distinct illustrated star-cartographer OC with blue eyes, braided blonde hair and a silver streak, an indigo travel coat, a celestial compass and a starry twilight setting.
What this does not establish
- One output can show a reference-led original design, but cannot establish uniqueness against all existing characters or multi-view consistency.
- The test input was cropped homepage artwork with four inset style cards. The prompt explicitly selected only the central fictional adult; this was not a clean single-person portrait benchmark.

Model: nano-banana-2-1. Operation: generate.
Visual style (anime): Illustrate in a polished 2D anime style with precise line art, expressive eyes, carefully shaped hair and clear cel-shaded color planes. Keep defining facial features and hairstyle recognizable from the reference where visible.. User request: Use only the central fictional adult blonde woman in the reference as visual inspiration for an original adult character, not a copy of the photo. Keep a trace of her blue eyes and facial proportions, but invent a distinct star-cartographer OC: a silver streak in braided blonde hair, asymmetric indigo travel coat, celestial compass and confident explorer expression. Show one half-body illustrated character on a simple twilight background, with no collage or lettering.. Character generation. Half body

- This workflow requires a reference image; it is not a random character generator or a text-only creator.
- Make the design specific through a few original clothing, color or accessory choices, then inspect the actual output.
- A generated proposal does not prove that a design is unique or free of third-party rights. Check references and the final image before reuse.
The starter grant covers one standard image. It is a trial, not unlimited free generation. Sets, editing and background removal have separate costs. Read the credit and failure answers.
Common questions.
Can I start with only a written description?
Morrow’s current creation flow starts with an uploaded reference. A written brief guides that reference; this page does not add a text-only mode.
Will I get an editable character file?
You receive raster images. Layered drawing files, editable vectors, rigs and 3D geometry are not included.
Can I make expressions and reference views?
Expressions requests six images and Character sheet requests three separate views through More options. Each has its own cost, and each result needs review.
